In the fall of 1984, Pastor Ben Shipley and Edmond Road Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma voted to sponsor Charles Whaley and a new Baptist mission to be located in western Oklahoma City or the Yukon area.  On December 30, 1984 fifteen people met with Charles Whaley on East Main Street in Yukon and formed the Independent Baptist Mission.

In the late spring of 1985, the mission moved to a larger commercial area in East Yukon.  During this time the Lord added several new members to the mission.

On August 13, 1986, the church finalized the purchase of 6.2 acres of land on North Sara Road and met for the first time in the new building which was dedicated to the Lord on June 24, 1988.

On August 26, 1988, Sara Road Baptist Mission was officially organized as Sara Road Baptist Church with 33 members.  The church called Charles Whaley as Pastor.

On June 13, 1990, Pastor Whaley resigned and Edgar C. Carlisle was called as the new Pastor on June 24, 1990.  He served faithfully as pastor of Sara Road Baptist Church for 21 years until his retirement May 29, 2011.

In 1995 and 1996, plans were drawn up for a educational building to be erected. On Easter Sunday, in the year 2000, the Planning committee broke ground for the erection of that new educational unit and it was completed in February 2001.

In 2006, our church began to erect the third division to the church building.  In 2007 the building was finished.

In August 10, 2011, Brian Taylor was called and is serving as the current Pastor of Sara Road Baptist Church.
